What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend.

My family is celebrating Thanksgiving with our friends. There coming over for lunch and dinner. I might go black Friday shopping with my brothers, I'm not for sure though. My family has no traditions on thanksgiving. My brothers came home from college so we'll probably go to dinner a few times. I also might have friends over on Tuesday after work. The rest of the week we'll probably just relax and I might have my friends over again over the weekend.

Wednesday November 19

Go out and look up a what all goes on a resume website. What can you find? Include an example image if possible.

They put on a section about them in their website. Some also list their experiences and their specialties. Another common thing they have are a navigation bars. The navigation bar list everything I said earlier, and  references, contact information, and samples of their work.  There are also links to social medias. Most of them use duller colors and keep it professional looking.

Define 'User Experience'. What does it mean and how does it relate to web design?

User experience is how someones feels towards something. The better user experience you have would mean you would probably enjoy the website more. If you were using a website and the navigation bar didn't work you probably would have a bad user experience. If the navigation bar were to be fixed you're user experience would probably increase for the better. I've had a bad user experience with the Google drive app. It doesn't let me upload pictures without wifi. This has become a problem because my phone doesn't always connect to wifi and I need pictures for multiple classes.

Consider the quote below. What exactly do you think it means and how does it relate to Web Design?

I think It means that design takes work. It's not just the image of what it looks like. It is what went into coming up with it that is important. A website isn't just the finished project. Once you see what goes into making it you will see that the real importance of the finished website is the code. Without it your website would be nothing.

Reflect on your learning this semester so far in this class. Think about the first day you walked in to this room until right now. What have you learned about Web Design? What have you learned beyond Web Design? Explain yourself.

The first day I walked in I knew nothing about web design. I didn't know that websites were created through codes. I learned about HTML and CSS codes. My skills have improved throughout the semester, but I have a lot more to learn. I have also learned problem solving skills. If I don't understand something I search for it and ask the teacher as a last resort. I hope to learn how to make my websites look more complex by the end of the semester.

Web Server- A system, using HTTP, that sends information to the internet.

Web Hosting (also list examples of web hosting companies)- Something that makes space and access for a website. A few companies are GoDaddy, Yahoo! Hosting, HostMetro, and iPage.

Monday November 3

Tell me about your weekend. Give me details and photos!

On Friday I went to cross country state. I went with my friends Natalie and Kylie. It was extremely cold, but beside that it was fun. When we got back to school we got lunch at Sonic. Later that night I went to my friend Ariana's with a few more people. We passed out candy to kids then just hung out in her basement. I didn't do anything else for the rest of the weekend.

I didn't do much this weekend. On Friday I went to the Blue valley game. I went with my friend Kylie and we met up with Gracie and Haylea. It was pretty fun, but not many of our friends were there. On Saturday I didn't do anything at all. On Sunday I cleaned my room, went shopping with my mom, and went to lunch.

What kind of background do you have with Photoshop? Have you used it before? What other types of design and editing software have you used before? Explain.

I have no background with Photoshop. I have only used it a few times, but it was to crop images. I have used design software to edit a photo online. I've only done that a few times though. I wish I had a little more knowledge about Photoshop, because it looks like it would be fun to use.

My thoughts haven't changed. I think people should be able to wear whatever they want. I think we should be able to wear short shorts or tank tops because that could be someones style. If they feel comfortable in it they should be able to wear it. I think she highlighted how girls actually feel really well and I'm glad she did. Schools talk about giving kids freedom for what they wear, but they don't. Shes right about how we work for cloths, so we should wear them all we want. If I buy a new shirt I really love I'm not going to save it for weekends. I'm going to want to wear it to school. I still completely agree with Riley.

I think high school should still have the same classes that they have now. They should just change them up a bit to make them more helpful for the future. Like teach us how to write checks or resumes. They could also add more explos that are about preparing for certain jobs. We would have more of a choice for what we would want to take. If we already knew what job we wanted we could start learning earlier by taking a class that has to do with that career.

I agree completely with her. All the points shes put in express how girls actually feel about it. I get that some shorts may be really short, but its the girls choice if she wants to wear them. It isn't fair being told we cant wear something. I've seen girls getting in trouble for wearing athletic shorts, which all girls wear, her legs were just longer. I've been told to put my sweater back on because my tank top straps were to small. Maybe the school is really hot. I personally don't understand how a shoulder could distract someone. I get that teachers might be put in a tough place if they don't agree with the rules. I just think that people should get to choose what they wear and be able to wear it without being told to change.

On Friday night I went to my friend Gracie's. My friends Natalie, Haylea, Kylie, Lydia, and Taylor were there too. We talked and played rock band. After that Natalie, Lydia and I meet at Sonic. I had to get my brother dinner, so it worked out. On Saturday I didn't do anything. On Sunday I went to target with my mom.

On Friday I went to my friend Gracie's before the football game. We didn't do much, we pretty much left as soon as I got to her house. The game was fun and Blue Valley won so that was good. After the game I went to Gracie's again and my friend Kylie went with us. We made cookies and just hung out. I didn't go to homecoming on Saturday, but I did hang out with my friends. We went to see If I Stay and got ice cream. I've already seen that movie, but it was still good.

My weekend was okay. On Friday night I babysat. I have never babysat her before, she was really crazy and didn't want to sit still. The kids i usually babysit are a little less energetic so that was different. On Saturday I went shopping with my friends for spirit week. It was fun because I always like spending time with friends. Then on Sunday night I went over to my cousins house. It was fun because i haven't seen them in a while. We just ate and played knockout.

Now that you are several weeks in to this class and have coded one (super small) website, what do you think? What are your thoughts on web design? Is it what you thought it would be? Is it better? Worse? What's your favorite part? What's your least favorite part? Explain.

I like the class, I think it is cool to learn what the backbone of a website looks like and how its made. It want what I thought it would be. I thought it would be easier to build websites, I didn't think we would actually code our websites.My favorite part is probably when I see the finished product, I think its cool to see that i made it from scratch. My least favorite part is trying to do something that I don't know how to do. I figured it out by using codeacademy though.

What is the importance of deadlines? How do high school deadlines reflect or simulate "real world" experience? Give an example of when you met or or didn't meet a deadline that was important.

Deadlines are important because if you don't meet them you could lose points on your project. High school deadlines stimulate real world because in the real world there are many things that have to be turned in a by a certain date. If they are not turned in you might have to pay extra, school is like this because you lose points. I have forgotten to do my homework before. Because it was late the highest grade I could get was an 80%. Deadlines are very important for school and the real world.

A time in my life where this quote has come into affect is tests. Sometimes I don't prepare enough for a test. In return for not studying I don't do well on that test. Not only does not preparing for an important test make you do bad on it, it also affects your grade in the long run. Test are important and if you don't do well it brings your grade down, and you could end up failing the class. I have never failed a class, but I have done bad on test.

On Friday I went over to my friend Gracie's house, then went to the BV game after. The game was pretty fun because most of my friends were there and it was good for all of us to get together. On Saturday I went shopping with my mom, it wasn't very fun though because I couldn't find what I was looking for. Later Saturday I had a few friends over. We pretty much just hung out on my patio and listened to music. We also found a dog in my backyard and he wouldn't leave us alone, i brought him to his owner the next day.That was really fun though because I like spending time with my friends.

I think it means that you are fortunate to have a life, so you should spend it doing things you love. There are so many things to do that you should never be bored or run out of things. You need to turn what your doing into something that makes you happy, if It doesn't originally do that. You should spend your time doing new things you enjoy instead of doing something that you don't.

I express my creativity through my art. I love art, so its a great thing to express myself through. I don't have much time to draw, but I take painting at school. I often times just like drawing faces, hair, and eyes. I also express myself through choir. I express myself in their because I like singing and have fun doing it.

On Friday night I went to Fifth Wall with a bunch of my friends. I really enjoy fifth wall, Its pretty funny and fun to watch. They had a bunch of new people in it and they were really good. On Saturday I watched the the K-state game,they won, and was outside with my neighbors. Last night me, my younger brother, and my parents meet my brother in Topeka to eat dinner and give him his car. It was fun because he goes to K-state and I don't get to see him often.

Kids these days are on their phones and technology to often. They spend all their time inside. When I was a kid I spent all my free time outside. They don't know how to use their imagination like kids used to. When they're not on their phones they're with their friends. They should spend more time with their families, instead they're at parties and friends houses all the time. They also get everything they want without working for it. They need to learn the value of money and how to make it.

I learned a lot more about web design and websites so far. I've learned about coding and website design. I want to learn more about customizing websites. I want to learn different font, color, and backgrounds I can use when coding. I want to be able to code a website without looking back at codeacademy for help.

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

This Labor day weekend I went to the Blue Valley soccer game with a bunch of my friends. I don't really go to soccer games often so that was fun and my friends also made it more fun.  After the game we went to Chipotle and my house. I also went to the Royals game on Saturday with my family. The game was extremely hot and I'm not a big fan of baseball. Neither of the games were very good though because both teams lost. Other then those things I went shopping and just stayed home.

I agree and disagree with this newspaper clipping. I believe that teenagers should have some freedom and be in their own 'dream world' as the author says. We shouldn't relay on them to make a change, adults should help too. As a teenager you're supposed to live and do things you want, not help change things benefiting other people. I also agree with it because teenagers should help, but to a certain, smaller extent.

I disagree with this statement. Most people don't post pictures for other peoples use, they post them for themselves and their friends. I think its wrong because people could use them for the wrong reasons and use the images for something bad.

I'm involved in choir right now. I want to join a few clubs this year though because I wasn't in any last year. I'm a sophomore. My favorite class is painting because I love doing art. There's not anything specific I'm looking forward to this year, but i am looking forward to spring show.

What do you know about Web Design right now? What did you know about Web Design before you walked in to this class? Tell me as much as you can about how web pages work. Try to use an example if possible.

Something I learned in this class that I didn't know was HTML coding. I learned how to make the backbone of a website and link pictures and url's to it. I had never heard of HTML coding before I walked into the room. I used to think making a website just consisted of copying and pasting and just adding things. I never thought every website would have a backbone. Web pages work because of HTML coding. It includes links things and is an easy way to map out your webpage. A good example would be codeacadamy.com. It teaches you how to code and what a correct code looks like.
